My new adventure FebFast: 28 days alcohol free

I’ve dobbed myself into FebFast challenge which is basically staying away from alcohol for 28 days. It was a rushed decision which was taken in less than 5 minutes.
About febfast: Febfast is a challenge and a tonic for all drinkers, to see if they can take a break from alcohol for the 28 days of February. This short break is both a timely health kick and a vital community fundraiser: money raised helps programs for vulnerable families and young adults tackling serious alcohol and drug issues.More about them here.
I’m only a social drinker so don’t think it’s a big ask for me to survive without alcohol for 28 days. I guess there will be two (good) things I’m going to achieve:

Self Confidence: If I manage to stay away from booze for 28 days, it is definitely going to increase my self confidence (or EGO).

Professor Raj Persaud posits that true self-confidence comes from an attitude where you:

Promise yourself, no matter how difficult the problem life throws at you, that you will try as hard as you can to help yourself. You acknowledge that sometimes your efforts to help yourself may not result in success, as often being properly rewarded is not in your control.[2]

Charity: The FebFast organisation is really doing good thing with the money donated. The money is going to:
Youth Support + Advocacy service
YSAS is a leading health agency annually reaching over 1300 highly vulnerable and high risk youth experiencing, or at risk of, drug and alcohol dependence. More details on their website.
Family Drug Support
Family Drug Support receives over 2300 calls a month from worried families experiencing first-hand the trauma and chaos of having family members with drug dependency.More details on their website.
Please click below link to donate
There are multiple payment options (Cash,Card,PayPal) for your comfort so payment method should not be an excuse for not donating.
I urge you to help me raise money for this brilliant cause which will help people live better life.
I (and all those who will benefit from your hard earned $$$) thank you in advance for your support, I'll be nagging you for support as – it means a lot !

These guy should be joining me

The goal is to raise $700 and we already pinched in $160 so not long to go....

Cure all your problems in 10 minutes

I just have to disappoint you if you have thought I'm going to give you the quick fix to get rid of all your pain in life. If you've thought 10 minutes is enough to become happy, you are right you can if you keep doing what Andy is saying in the video.

There is nothing special in the talk but it is a simple technique which I know works if regularly performed. My previous post talks about dedication and hard work is the only way to achieve something in life.

Most people assume that meditation is all about stopping thoughts, getting rid of emotions, somehow controlling the mind. But actually it's … about stepping back, seeing the thought clearly, witnessing it coming and going

We are all made to "FLY" !

Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons from Arabia. They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained.

Months passed and one day the head falconer informed the king that though one of the falcons was flying majestically, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived.

The king summoned healers and sorcerers from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly. He presented the task to the member of his court, but the next day, the king saw through the palace window that the bird had still not moved from its perch. Having tried everything else, the king thought, "Maybe I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem." So he told his court, "Go and get a farmer."

In the morning, the king was thrilled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens. He said to his court, "Bring me the doer of this miracle."

The court quickly located the farmer, who came and stood before the king. The king asked him, "How did you make the falcon fly?"

how much salary will make you happy

Currently I’m in the job market, looking for a new challenge in my professional career. I get asked this question regularly – What is your expected salary?

Well my expectations are within the market rates but I wondered about if I get 20% more pay, will I be happier.

This research by one of my favorite psychologist Daniel Kahneman indicates following:

Research result of almost half million people indicates that you will not get emotional happiness after around 75,000 per year salary.

Motivational stuff for 2013 - Happy New Year

I read/listen lots of motivational stuff but hardly accomplish everything the speaker/writer has to say unless I'm inspired.

I think motivation or motivational stuff does not have much impact in achieving goals, unless you've inspiration to accomplish something.

According to definition

Motivation - (1) The general desire or willingness of someone to do something (2) The reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way

Inspiration - The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something

So here is some motivational stuff to create inspiration in the New Year. The underlined one is my favourite.
