how much salary will make you happy

Currently I’m in the job market, looking for a new challenge in my professional career. I get asked this question regularly – What is your expected salary?

Well my expectations are within the market rates but I wondered about if I get 20% more pay, will I be happier.

This research by one of my favorite psychologist Daniel Kahneman indicates following:

Research result of almost half million people indicates that you will not get emotional happiness after around 75,000 per year salary.

“We conclude that high income buys life satisfaction but not happiness, and that low income is associated both with low life evaluation and low emotional well-being.”

So statistically your happiness does not increases after 75K.

So 20% more money is not going to make me emotionally happier but I might be able to buy one of this.
